As you may, or may not yet, know there are many new domain name extensions coming to the market this year. If they all will go through with it, and we know they aren't as some have already stopped before they began, there should be about 300, yes 300! more very soon.

What does this mean?
Well, you'll see 'strange' extension rather then just the one's your used to, so not only .com, .cc.uk or .eu any more but also .career, .singles, .ruhr and many man many more.

Is there an opportunity there for me?
Yes, and there are 3 main area's you have to think about with this
1) These new extensions might have a 'Sunrise period' in which trademark owner, for example, have the right to order said domain name first. Only after that will there general 'First come, First serve' policy.
This means that it's best to think about the importance of a certain domain extension for you and your company. Being first here might easily mean that you'll actually be able to get the name you want as these are new extensions.
2) Think about the issue of you not taking a certain extension, but for example your competitor does. If this is a reasonable commercial issue, it might not be worth letting that domain slip while it's still there.
3) As a follow-up on that. How about mistypes, misspellings or product names. Is it clever and prudent to make sure they arrive at your site rather then nowhere or, even worse perhaps, at your competitors site.

As usual, we will price all these new domains as sharp as we can so that that shouldn't be the reason not to claim the name.

P.S. If obtaining a certain domain extension for your company is very important, get in touch with us. We might be able to help you claim it before the General Availability schedule, but do take into account paperwork is involved then and the prices are higher. We will be able to tell you precisely what we need and what it'll cost when you contact us.
