Website Control Panel or Client Area?

Where do I go to do ...?
Do I need to go to my Client Area or my Website Control Panel?

Sometimes it is hard to figure out where you really need to go to do things. Most people get confused at one time or another, so here is a little refresher that may help you remember the right direction to take when you are trying to pay your hosting bill, or edit your web site, or read your email, or well, to do just about anything associated with your web site.

THE CLIENT AREA

The Client Area is INFORMATIONAL and FUNCTIONAL and should be your first port of call.

It requires an email address (or your username) and password to login.

This is where you update your contact information, payment information and any additional contact / administrative information.
Your Order(s) information is listed here, and you place new order(s) from here. You can order domain names, services, and products. You can View details of invoices past and present.

This is also the area you come to View, Print and Pay invoices as well.

Your SHOULD send your support Tickets from here rather than from outside of the login so they will all be saved in your client area email account for you.

In the Client Area you can see all emails that have been sent to you by the administrative system along with all orders, invoices and receipts.

When you go to "Managing your product" there will be loads of options that are related to that specific product. With hosting products, for example, you might be able to add, manage and delete most of the settings and accounts from there. You only have to log in the Website Control panel if you need to go 'deeper' into the setting or if you need to adjust settings that are not displayed here.

The Website Control panel

The Website Control Panel is FUNCTIONAL. This area deals with everything that controls your web site, E-maii, etc.

The address of your Website Control Panel address has been send to you when you signed up and might vary on the type of hosting subscription you've subscribed to. The Website Control Panel requires a username and password (a mixed string of letters and numbers - upper and lower case suggested). When you log in to the Website Control panel it will only show you / let you edit the options that are available to you with the hosting package you have purchased.

This is where you set up your email accounts, read your webmail, turn on spam protection, and create a forward and auto responders.

You can edit, backup, change and upload files. You can also edit pages and control FTP. You can create additional FTP accounts.

View your Web site Stats, visitor logs, error logs, and create custom error pages.

The Website Control Panel is the place to go to set your site security, such as password protected directories, HotLink Protection and the IP Deny Manger.

Here is where you will find the place to create parked domains, sub-domains and URL redirects.

Your Website Control Panel is the place to set up databases.

This is the place to find the pre-installed software or install new software with our award winning 1-Click-Installer. With our 1-Click-Installer you can automatically install more then 330 great scripts and software solutions and / or 1100 PHP Classes and we are still adding more.
